Merve Salgar’s solo performances lie at the intersection of Ottoman/Turkish music, free improvisation, and contemporary creative music. Through her solo practice on the tanbur, she develops a distinctive and personal musical language, exploring new sonic territories and expanded forms of expression.

Step Out is the collection of Merve Salgars favourite traditional Ottoman-Turkish love songs. The album contains a selection of simple and airy love songs from the early 20th century. In this album, on certain tracks, Merve Salgar is accompanied by her long-time friends and trusted collaborators: Anıl Eraslan on cello, Ruben Tenenbaum on violin, and Taner Akyol on bağlama.
