Mire is composed of Maria Laurent (pianet & effects), Merve Salgar (tanbur), and Stéphane Clor (cello & baglamas) Video clip directed by Anil Eraslan Mire reveals a chamber music of chiaroscuro, where the acoustic timbres of the strings rub up against the precision mechanics of the electromagnetic piano. Their sonorities form a rugged landscape in which rock breaks, high-voltage crackles and misty melodies of instruments stretched out in leaky lines are intertwined. https://stephaneclor.net/mire

Merve Salgar / Tanbur, voice Zoe Heselton / Guitar, voice Words and music by Aşık Veysel Şatıroğlu From SB021 / Health To Your Hands • Merve Salgar & Zoe Heselton Recorded in September 2019 at St Pancrace Church in Dangolsheim, France over the course of a three-day residency curated by inventor and musician Léo Maurel, "Health To Your Hands" is Merve Salgar and Ross Heselton's first collection of recordings as a an improvised and traditional music duo for tanbur, voices and guitar. Drawing on their different influences and backgrounds to weave their repertoire, the album ties paths between the blues and the folk music and poetry of Ireland and Britain and those of the Ottoman Empire: here threading together the taksim of the tanbur with the cry of the bottleneck slide guitar, there drumming the words of Dylan Thomas to the rhythm of the tef, or yet making resonances between the the songs of Turkish troubadour Aşık Veysel and traditional Irish folk ballads. Playing with an sensitivity to improvisation and a shared attention to silence and space, the instruments call, respond and entangle, disappearing into drones to make ground for one another, or singing in unison to become one.

Merve Salgar est musicienne-improvisatrice, interprète d’un instrument de la musique ottomane : le tanbur. Elle est née en 1990 à Istanbul. Après avoir fini ses études au Conservatoire National de Musique Turque, elle a déménagé en France. Diplômée d’un master recherche en Études Méditerranéennes Orientales et Slaves, elle poursuit son doctorat en musicologie à l’Université de Strasbourg. En plus de jouer de la musique ottomane/turque, en tant qu’improvisatrice, elle cherche toujours de nouvelles sonorités. Elle joue actuellement avec des ensembles tels que Orpheus XXI (w/Jordi Savall), Waed Bouhassoun Ensemble, SAVT, Karmanota, Sousta Politiki, Incredible Mektoub Orchestra, Dreieck interferences, Imbroglio, Klank.ist, et collabore avec des musiciens et musiciennes des scènes des musiques improvisées et traditionnelles. https://www.mervesalgar.com/ Zoe Heselton est chanteuse, guitariste, poète et traductrice. Elle est née en Angleterre en 1994, elle est active à Strasbourg depuis plusieurs années où elle s'implique dans la scène locale DIY. Elle traduit, écrit et dit des poèmes, joue diverses formes de musique folk, notamment en solo (folk songs, spoken word), dans le groupe l'Ecluse (folk, experimental, noise) ou encore en duo avec Merve Salgar (musiques traditionnelles et improvisées), et partage des éditions faites-main (de poésie, musique, BD, photo...) avec le micro-label Soleils Bleus qu'elle a co-fondée en 2015. https://linktr.ee/zoeheselton #livesession #duo #strasbourg

Musician, film-maker and artist in residency at Tarabya Kulturakademie since february 2020, Anil Eraslan prepares a docufiction film on improvised music scene in Istanbul. He invites some of the musicians who will take part in this film and make improvisation music sessions. Second guests of these 3 video series is the trio Savt. Members of this improvised music trio are Merve Salgar (tanbur), Ayşe Hatipoğlu (cello) and Canfezâ Gündüz (classical kemençe). Sound is recorded by Gökhan Deneç Tarabya’da doğaçlama buluşmaları Şubat ayından beri Tarabya Kültür Akademisinde konuk sanatçı olan müzisyen ve yönetmen Anıl Eraslan, İstanbul’daki doğaçlama müzik sahnesi üzerine hazırlamakta olduğu kurmaca belgesel projesinde yer alacak bazı müzisyenleri Tarabya’ya davet edip onlarla beraber doğaçlama müzik performansı gerçekleştiriyor. 3 ayrı videodan oluşacak bu serinin ikinci konuğu Savt. Bu doğaçlama üçlüsü Merve Salgar (tanbur), Ayşe Hatipoğlu (viyolonsel) ve Canfezâ Gündüz'den (klasik kemençe) oluşuyor.
